Oooh baby. This is one album that lives up to its title. The fourth major release from Robin Thicke is just a little under an hour of smooth, soulful tracks that discuss one common theme (sex). You would never guess that Robin's father is Alan Thicke, a man best known for his role as Jason Seaver, the father on the ABC sitcom "Growing Pains". Robin displays a charming subtlety that is appealing, but on some tracks like "Meiple" which features Jay-Z, the lyrics are about as subtle as a rock to the head; citing the chorus, "I know you wanna (fuck)". The whole album is star-studded with contributions from Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and Kid Cudi among others. There has been an "Evolution of Robin Thicke", which was also the title of his second album in 2006. He's evidently grown much more comfortable discussing sexual subject matter, at times in a rather perverse fashion. Obviously, this is a good album to listen to while you fornicate. It's marginally entertaining, but other than that it's inconsequential. If you let your children listen to this album, you will definitely be facing some tough questions after.

When you first hear Anvil you might think you actually got hit with an actual anvil. That is how hard this album has hit fans and inspired other musicians in the metal genre itself. "Strength Of Steel" is one of the albums you usually find in every metal fan's collection. Very few artists have accomplished what Anvil has done on this album and that is to put out an album that is solid, in its entirety. With its crystal clear lyrics and soothing guitar solos this album is furious but peaceful as well. Listening to this album, you will find yourself head banging one moment and then laughing the next at the funny, and at times very sexual lyrics.

This is the debut album from Swedish-born singer Lykke Li. After a string of singles and EP's, the album dropped and although it was well received in her native Sweden (#3), it failed to place on US charts, namely the Billboard Hot 100 or even the Billboard 200. This album seemed to fly under the American radar for the most part, which is a shame because there's a dynamic sound here that blends indie-pop and electronica and the result is very enjoyable. Although there are instances of heavy beats on the more dance-worthy tracks, the singer's lovely voice is really the most prolific element of the overall sound. There is a softness about her voice, yet it is still strong and prevalent. It's kind of sexy. Lyrically, there is a wide range. Some tracks, like the opening "Melodies & Desires" are serious and exhibit themes of intense love and intimacy. Other tracks are much more cute and playful.

Remember when punk rock was fun? Do you recall when it was more about life, growing up, and relationships instead of all the political bullshit? I do. One of the bands that stayed true to the genre was Avoid One Thing. With ex-members of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, they were here for a little while to prove that punk rock still existed. Every track on this album is road trip material and can remain in a CD player for weeks at a time. Their lyrics are fitting for all ages and articulate about life in a everyday sense. This is a timeless punk rock album that will hopefully become a guideline of the genre to future musicians.

Eternal Erection. These are the words that first caught my eye. Then I listened to the album and almost shit my pants...almost? This is funk in its finest form (aside from Stevie Wonder) and these guys should be in the states selling out shows in Vegas and other big cities. With their audacious funk music and lyrics, they have it all. Even their videos are brilliant and I bet they put on a preternatural live performance and knock people off their feet. The band bunch of weirdos all ranging in age and how much glitter they can wear, but don't let their looks fool you. They are exceedingly talented and you won't have any remorse clicking the play button on this one. Enjoy...

The Soup Dragons had a minor successful run over in the UK and had minimal fame here in the US but the cause of them not being huge over here in the states is simply because they were before their time. These guys would have had music in every commercial, movie, and music compilation out there, but they started to soon and died off when it was to late. I still listen to them all the time, whenever it is a rainy day or a rough work day their cover of The Rolling Stones "I'm Free" always cheers me up. Their lyrics are innovative and masterful that make you feel inspired and warm inside, the music is mollifying and makes you want to close your eyes and take a deep breath and forget the world for a moment. So when you listen to the track "I'm Free" I ask you to sit back and close your eyes and take a moment to feel what I have felt for years. I promise this song is better than your Xanax and Zoloft and it will have a longer lasting effect, but try not to think about how The Soup Dragons are not together anymore think about what they left us with and enjoy that.

I think a lot of fans missed this release that The Misfits did last year and I wanted to post this so it wouldn't be overlooked anymore. Yes, Jerry Only is back with Dez Cadena and Robo (members of Black Flag) for another release and hopefully an album here in the near future. Personally I love Jerry Only's vocals and he really belts it out in this release. The album has only two songs but I love them both and it is also kind of a tease of what more is to come from this trio in impending time. The songs are based around George A. Romero's zombie films, first being "Land Of The Dead" which was fourth in the series and "Twilight Of The Dead" which was Romero's working title for Land Of The Dead for year (yes I'm a film buff as well.) So both songs of course are about the undead but that is what I wanted and expected from the genius himself...Jerry Only.

This album is smooth to the ears in the way that a well aged single malt scotch is smooth to the pallet. It is refined, yet intoxicating. It draws you in a little more with each note until you find yourself in an altered state. Reaching number three on the UK music chart has done very little to help The XX gain much notoriety stateside. This is unfortunate, because their debut album has flown under the radar for the most part for the one year plus since its release. The band utilizes two singers throughout the album, one male and one female. Bass guitar is used in a more pronounced way than other bands which contributes to the low haunting groove that builds up on this almost self titled album. The low sound also lends more creedence to the higher electric guitar riffs that cut like a knife through the mellow cool.

From the moment your ears hear the opening track "Turn It Out" you know you stepped into a inhuman music wonderland. Every song, every beat, every scrape of the screeching bass guitar are beautifully constructed to a wonderful escape into a different sound of "indie rock" and leaves you wanting more..but there isn't anymore...I know...it sucks. This duo (yes duo) broke up after their first album, they did manage to put out some EP's and remixes but nothing amounts to this. This album was introduced to me years ago and to this day I still listen to it all the time. It does no wrong. With just a bass player and a drummer who sings as well they do very well for themselves and are loud as hell. Their lyrics are humorous and also very sexual and you find yourself zoning off into the unknown sometimes and wondering how are they doing this with just the two of them. All I can tell you it is real but it feels like a dream. Just press play and you will see.

First I want to say I know very little about this band, I only know they are from Sweden and they only have one album which is very depressing for me. I recently discovered this band just by browsing around and I decided to give them a chance. I will hardly say "wow" to a horror punk band but...wow, this band is very thoroughly enjoyable. Their lyrics and very gratifying and the music is very pleasurable, they make you want to sing along and bounce around. I did extensive research on this band and I only obtained very little information which I have posted above. All I can really leave you with are a couple of songs and to tell you, you need to listen and inform anyone you know that likes this genre about this band. I encourage you to listen to these songs and spread the word of this glorious horror punk band extravaganza.
