This is the debut album from Swedish-born singer Lykke Li. After a string of singles and EP's, the album dropped and although it was well received in her native Sweden (#3), it failed to place on US charts, namely the Billboard Hot 100 or even the Billboard 200. This album seemed to fly under the American radar for the most part, which is a shame because there's a dynamic sound here that blends indie-pop and electronica and the result is very enjoyable. Although there are instances of heavy beats on the more dance-worthy tracks, the singer's lovely voice is really the most prolific element of the overall sound. There is a softness about her voice, yet it is still strong and prevalent. It's kind of sexy. Lyrically, there is a wide range. Some tracks, like the opening "Melodies & Desires" are serious and exhibit themes of intense love and intimacy. Other tracks are much more cute and playful.
